Synopsis: - As Lois Lane reports, something seems to be ailing the Lexcorp empire... Luthor Towers is nearly finished, but much of Lexcorp's technology is malfunctioning randomly, and sabotage is suspected. Luthor is not happy about this, and orders his men, particularly security head Drake, to get to the bottom of the matter. Lois Lane is also investigating, as she has noticed a couple of alarming coincidences: at the same time as the major incidents which require Superman's attention, Madness pulls off a crime elsewhere in the city and robberies are committed at major scientific research facilities such as S.T.A.R., Galaxo and Tyler Pharmaceuticals. She tells Superman her concerns, and he bears them in mind when he meets with Drake, who has asked for his help. Drake has few suspects for the sabotage, including Lexcorp VP's Edward Carlisle and Thomas Hewitt as well as Luthor's romance Dolores Winters.
- Whoever is behind the sabotage also orders some of Luthor's men to attack Lois Lane in order to retrieve from her the photograph that Wilde gave her. Upon investigation, Superman finds a microdot in the photograph which explains much of Wilde's research. He was developing a device called the U.L.T.R.A. (Under-Light Transmitive Radiation Analyzer) which could not only identify the radiation from a person's soul, but transmit it to another person, transferring all memory and consciousness with it. Unfortunately, a body can take only one person's 'under-light' at a time. It is not hard to deduce that Wilde has become an 'U.L.T.R.A. Humanite' and is himself Lexcorp's saboteur. A little investigation and an accident with a gun later, and Wilde is dead once more, 'accidentally' killed in a struggle with Drake, who had discovered the scientist to have taken up residence in Edward Carlisle's body.
