Synopsis:
Zatanna babbles in madness wreaking all sorts of havoc as her words are spells. Faust touches Flash and Green Lantern, making them woozy and stealing some of their power to seal Zatanna in a prison of green energy, from which he only emerges when things return to normal. The JLA do not thank him, of course, so he leaves under a cloud of suspicion. Faust pays a visit to June Moon, who has started to fade into a form of catatonia, for which Faust feels incredibly guilty. Meanwhile, Batman and the Martian Manhunter take Zatanna to a soundproof room in Arkham Asylum - the Manhunter is overwhelmed by the close presence of so many insane psyches and, taking refuge on the roof, battles Scratch and Anita Soulfeeda.
In Detroit, Blue Devil pays a visit to his 'partner', Faust, who also receives a parcel from his father which includes a book on soul magic; making a terrible realization, he decides to leave. He reveals that he still has one of the Devil's bones in his possession, in order to keep him loyal, and returns it to him (by shoving it in his back) so that he cannot follow Faust to his ruin. He himself goes to Arkham, where he gets Zatanna to read some of the book on soul magic. He is interrupted by Batman, who thinks he is up to no good, but is able to make his escape, assuring Batman that he will restore the Sentinels. Later, the Diablos come looking for Faust, and find only Blue Devil; Anita suggests to him that he joins up with them.
