HISTORY
The first incarnation of Firestorm was formed when student Ronnie Raymond and college professor Martin Stein were fused into one being in an accident at a nuclear power plant. As this fused being they were able to alter the molecular structure of any object - Ronnie was in charge of the body, but Martin Stein had the knowledge necessary to use this ability well. After having served with the Justice League of America and experienced other people joining the Firestorm matrix, Ron was eventually rejected from the mix, leaving him powerless.
Later, Ron learned he had leukemia. An experimental procedure to cure him caused his Firestorm powers to reemerge, but with a loss of control. At around the same time, the elemental Martin Stein returned to Earth, where he offered to have Ron merge with him once again. Ron turned down Stein's offer and convinced him to leave, and before doing so, Stein cured the leukemia and left Ron with Firestorm's powers. However, Ron is now the sole person in this Firestorm's body and lacks the scientific expertise to use his powers to the max. He has been trained by the Atom, and was recruited by the San Francisco-based Power Company.
