- Elongated Man gets his new, red costume for his birthday in this issue.
Synopsis:
While visiting Coast City on his birthday, the Elongated Man is approached by Tom Kalmaku who is seeking help for his friend, Green Lantern. Tom reveals the hero's identity of Hal Jordan and explains the Emerald Warrior's strange behavior, as Jordan is unable to recall even being Green Lantern yet is recharging his power ring every few hours, rather than twentyfour hours.
When a gang of would-be industrial thieves attempt to steal blueprints from Ferris Aircraft, Kalmaku and the Elongated Man fight the villains and are surprised to see Jordan enter the fray, but not as the ring-wielding hero. Later, they work on the reasons for the Lantern's problems. His ring informs them it was a result of travelling through a gaseous nebula which had stranges effects on the Green Lantern. He was stricken with partial amnesia and due to the chronal forces in the nebula, a warped sense of time.
Always wanting a mystery he can solve himself someday, the Elongated Man asks Green Lantern to erase the knowledge of his Hal Jordan identity from his mind.
