HISTORY
Deeter was an apprentice on a medieval world. Deeter's Master, Okonoko - a Green Lantern, had given the boy many jobs to do before Deeter was ready to learn the responsibilities of wielding a power ring. Deeter was charged with cooking and cleaning, listening and learning. This he did faithfully, but he'd always wanted to wear the ring.
Late one night, Deeter crept into his master's room and took the power ring. Deeter tried to use the ring, but only set the night sky alight with green fireworks. The commotion caught the attention of a wandering beast, who smashed through the door looking for food and fire. It had found both with Deeter. The young apprentice was helpless as he was snatched up by the beast, to be turned into stew...
Unable to scream for his master, Deeter hurled the ring causing an explosion of green. The beast was seemingly destroyed, and Okonoko was there to pick up the ring. Deeter tried to explain how he had been surprised while cleaning the power ring. He had not wanted to wake his master so he took the ring... The Green Lantern would hear none of it, and sent the young apprentice to clean the damage. Behind his back, Deeter's master held the mask of the wandering beast. -Green Lantern Vol. 2 #162
Years later, the old Green Lantern allowed Deeter to use the power ring on his own. The young man had done well with his studies and it was time to test what he'd learned.
Deeter was sent to rescue the people of South Ouig from the horrible Grazoum. He flew over fields that were dry and barren, past starving peasants until he saw it. A large fire-breathing dragon was attacking a castle. Deeter chased it away, saving the castle. The King, who was not impressed, ordered Deeter after the dragon. The beast had his daughter, the Princess Oryna.
Deeter caught up to the dragon and created a wall with the might of the power ring. The dragon smashed head first into it. The Princess was thrown from the dragon, knocked unconscious when she fell into the river below. Deeter brought the young woman back to the castle to her father. Deeter learned to his misfortune that the Horrible Grazoum was not the dragon, it was the princess' father, King Grazoum. The tyrannical king wanted the peasants to build his castle rather than work in their fields. Drogar, the dragon, was Oryna's ally in the plan to stop the castle work crews. King Grazoum held the princess and the would-be Green Lantern in his dungeon. He took the ring from young Deeter.
Grazoum's revelry was short-lived, the dragon had returned with a new rider on its back, Deeter's Master. His mighty will ordered the ring back on his finger, his power destroyed the castle walls. The Green Lantern warned the King about his stubborn pride and the cost it took on the peasants. He would be watching the King. Deeter's master had hard words for Deeter as well. Deeter had rushed in to the situation without thinking. The Princess was less than forgiving to Deeter, accusing him of incompetence.
As the years rolled on, Deeter would become a Green Lantern in his own right. He told his story to a young boy that was teased by a group of girls. Deeter had later claimed "revenge" on the Princess Oryna by marrying her. The couple settled down with her dragon. The threesome can often be seen in the local town.
Deeter was most recently seen on Oa, shortly before Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner rescued approximately thirty Green Lanterns from captivity on Biot, homeworld of Manhunters.

GLCWP NOTE
As with all of the Todd Klein TGLC stories, this one has nice little touches. I could see a whole series done on Deeter as a Green Lantern. The unnamed homeworld of Deeter appears to orbit four or more suns, which I thought was interesting, but I wonder if it's possible?
