HISTORY
A deserted mining town in Vermont, Bürgess Town became the home of Hans Klochmann, an emigrate from Switzerland. He repaired the ruined area to resemble a Swiss village and populated it with "clockwork people" to bring the town to life. These people were based on those Klochmann had read about in newspaper obituaries, to give them something of a second chance at life.
The appearance of an town with new residents never registered with the government or never having paid taxes caught the attention of outsiders, particularly Matthew Cable, and unwittingly, the organization known as the Conclave. Led by Nathan Ellery, the Conclave sought to take the genius of Klochmann by any means necessary and was responsible for the death of Klochmann and the destruction of his clockwork people.
