HISTORY

Virtually nothing is known about the origin of the so-called Atomic Axe, an energy weapon so powerful and sharp that it can cut through any matter or energy. The first recorded appearance of the Atomic Axe is from the time shortly before the so-called 'Our Worlds At War' event, when it was given to a small-time criminal named Cole Parker by a fellow inmate at Stryker's Island penitentiary. As the Persuader (I), Parker used the Axe in battle against Superman.

It has been rumoured that the Axe will later be used during a World War in an undefined future. In the 31st century, this Atomic Axe (or a similar one) was recovered by a dangerous criminal under unrevealed circumstances. As the second Persuader, the criminal uses the Axe as a member of the Fatal Five, sworn foes of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
