HISTORY

In the underwater society of Atlantis, some children were born who were throwbacks to an earlier era and did not adapt to sea life as most of their compatriots. When such a child was born, it would be rejected by Atlantis for its own survival's sake, and sent to the surface world in a lifeboat. Over twenty years ago, one of these throwbacks, a girl with purple eyes, was found in the sea and adopted by the famous ichthyologist Dr. Hugo Morel.

In her twenties, the girl, now named Lisa, found herself displaying her Atlantean innate abilities of breathing underwater, swimming like a fish, and mentally controlling sealife. For a while, she dressed up in an Aquaman costume and assisted Aquaman himself on a few cases as Aquagirl. However, her Atlantean abilities were short-lived and she eventually lost her powers, returning to life on the surface.
