HISTORY

It's known by many names – Despoiler, Expunger, Annihilator... even Anti-Christ. Its true name is the Antagon, the dark side of the Red, and the eternal nemesis of the Animal Masters. For millions of years, the Animal Masters struggled in an endless war against the darkness that wanted to extinguish all life. Ten million years ago, they were able to expel the Antagon from the universe. However, about a dozen years ago, the Antagon returned to this reality, and more recently, it awakened. The current Animal Masters felt its effects immediately – Animal Man, Vixen, and Tristess all displayed erratic behaviour, their power became destructive and uncontrollable. Mike Maxwell, the former B'wana Beast, succumbed completely, and was possessed to become the Shining Man. The Antagon, now more powerful than ever, killed the elder Animal Masters and threatened all existence. Finally, the three remaining Animal Masters defeated the Antagon by creating an entire universe and trapping the evil inside it.
