HISTORY

A good-hearted but somewhat cynical woman, marked by life, Annie Cassidy has the gift of being closely connected to 'the Red', the Morphogenetic Field that connects all life on Earth. Annie and her daughter Lucy first encountered Buddy Baker and his family when Annie had accidentally awakened the entity known as the Leviathan. Later, they both joined up with the Baker family and lived with them on their farm in Vermont. However, Buddy's wife Ellen was jealous of Annie since her 'gift' made her share a bond with Buddy that Ellen herself could never have. And indeed, when the 'animal' in Animal Man started outgrowing the 'man', Buddy started a physical relationship with Annie, who then joined Buddy and his daughter Maxine in founding the nature-worshipping 'Life Power Church of Maxine'. Eventually, Buddy reverted to human again and renewed her relationship with Ellen. But not until Annie had given birth to Buddy's second daughter – a human incarnation of the World Soul.
