Synopsis: - Lex Luthor calls for Superman's help - an American journalist is being held captive in the terrorist South American country of Bialya. The reporter in question - Newstime's Andrew Finch - had hoped for a private interview with Colonel Ehad Rajak, Bialya's leader. After a time, Superman agrees to go, on the understanding that he is going there to rescue a human life, not for his country, and most certainly not for his president. As he arrives in Bialya and breaks the man free of his cell, Rajak becomes aware of his presence and sends infantry and tanks against him - somewhat fruitless when facing the Man of Steel. Having got these out of the way, Superman pays a visit to Colonel Rajak to tell him what he told Luthor: he is not there in aggression, but to rescue a man who's human rights had been violated. During the course of the conversation, Finch grabs a gun and attempts to assassinate the Colonel, but is easily prevented by Superman.
- Finch's occupation as a journalist is his cover for his real mission, and even confronted with Superman's anger, he refuses to reveal who gave him his orders. Superman flies out of the country with Finch and drops the would-be assassin at Luthor's feet on the White House lawn.
